How To Deal with Piezoelectric Sensor Noise

Piezoelectric sensors generate noise during use. What are the causes of noise? Only by understanding the causes of noise can we effectively solve the noise problem!

Solution for piezoelectric sensor noise:

For piezoelectric sensors, low frequency noise is mainly caused by discontinuities in the internal conductive particles. Especially for carbon film resistors, there are often many tiny particles inside the carbon material and these particles are discontinuous. When the current expires, the conductivity of the resistor will change and the current will change, resulting in a similar contact failure.

Piezoelectric sensors generate bulk noise from semiconductor devices primarily due to changes in the number of charges accumulated in the barrier region at the ends of the semiconductor PN junction due to changes in the voltage in the region, thus exhibiting a capacitive effect. When the forward voltage decreases, it moves electrons and holes away from the depletion region, which is equivalent to the discharge of a capacitor. Shock acceleration sensors are different.

When a reverse voltage is applied, the depletion region changes in the opposite direction. When current flows through the barrier region, this change will result in a smaller fluctuation in the current flowing through the barrier region, thereby generating current noise. Typically, electromagnetic components on a piezoelectric sensor board, if electromagnetic components are present on many piezoelectric sensor boards, such as relays, coils, etc., the inductance of the coil and the distributed capacitance of the enclosure will later radiate energy in the vicinity, and the nearby circuits are causing interference.

Repeated operation of components such as relays generates instantaneous reverse high voltage when turning on and off the power supply, resulting in transient inrush currents. This transient high voltage will have a great impact on the circuit, and seriously interfere with the normal operation of the voltage electrical sensor circuit. Industrial acceleration sensors, mining vibration sensors in the use of hydraulics should also pay attention to interference.
